Pertamina Drops Plan to Pursue Oil Projects in Ecuador -Govt Official
By Deden Sudrajat and I Made Sentana
JAKARTA--PT Pertamina has dropped its plan to develop oil projects in Ecuador due to the difficult environment there, an Indonesian government official said Tuesday.
"The disposal of the oil well drillings must be done in a distant location, which will be very burdersome for Pertamina," Heri Purnomo, director of oil and gas development at the directorate general of oil and gas, told Dow Jones Newswires.
In 2007, Pertamina and state-owned Petroecuador signed an agreement on boosting oil production in the South American country.
