Petrobras CEO Resigns After Truckers' Strike Unravels His Revamp
Pedro Parente, the chief executive officer of Brazilian oil giant Petrleo Brasileiro SA resigned on Friday, days after a truckers strike persuaded the government to cut the price of diesel fuel.
In his resignation letter, Mr. Parente said his leadership was unsustainable after criticism of his policy to end fuel subsidies.
The truckers, calling for the elimination of taxes on diesel fuel, blocked highways during their 10-day work stoppage, cutting supplies of food, fuel and medicines in much of the country to protest. Brazilian President Michel Temer cut the taxes and make other concessions to end the strike.
