Hess Swings to 1Q Profit
Hess Corp. (HES) on Thursday reported first-quarter earnings, while analysts were expecting a loss.
The oil production company posted quarterly net income of $32 million, or nine cents a share, compared with a loss of $106 million, or 38 cents a share, in the same quarter a year ago. Analysts polled by FactSet were anticipating a net loss of $77 million, or 27 cents a share.
Revenue came to $1.6 billion, Hess said, besting the $1.44 billion analysts were targeting. The company posted $1.39 billion in revenue in the first quarter of 2018.
