Novatek plans to make a decision on investments in the Arctic LNG-2 in the 3rd quarter of 2019
Vilnius, Neftegaz.RU. NOVATEK will make a final investment decision on the construction of a plant for the production of liquefied natural gas (LNG) Arctic LNG-2 at the beginning of the 3rd quarter of 2019.
Recall that recently LNG from Russia began to arrive in Lithuania - from the medium-capacity LNG plant NOVATEK in the port of Vysotsk in the Leningrad Region, launched in April 2019.
The Arctic LNG-2 project will be a 2rd large-capacity LNG plant NOVATEK, after Yamal LNG. The resource base of the project will be the Morning field on the Gydan Peninsula, and the plant itself will include 3 LNG production lines with a capacity of 6.6 million tons / year each on the basis of a gravity type (GBS). The total capacity of the plant will be 19.8 million tons / year. The expected launch date of the 1st line is 2022–2023, followed by the launch of the remaining lines in 2024 and 2025.
Due to the successful implementation of the Yamal LNG project, interest in participating in the Arctic LNG-2 is very high. In March 2019, Total became a shareholder of the project, having received a 10% participation stake with the possibility of increasing to 15%. NOVATEK plans to save 60% in the project, so a new investor can be offered a maximum of 10% in Arctic LNG-2. Novatek plans to fix the deal based on an estimate of the cost of the entire Arctic LNG-2 project at $ 25 billion. The most likely buyer is Saudi Aramco, however, negotiations have been going on for a long time, but have not yet resulted in a practical result, possibly due to price differences.
