DJ Indian Fuel Sellers Face Much-Better Climate
Oil sellers in India have had a hard time raising fuel prices the past year despite the jump in crude futures as the country geared up for elections. But with that done and a decisive majority again for the ruling coalition, Nomura thinks the sector will have more room to act--especially as it believes the government "will look to increase its earnings" from the sellers via dividends and taxes. Nomura upgrades the sector to buy while saying "normal price increases have commenced" after the election. "We think the outlook on marketing is significantly better now." Upgraded from neutral are Bharat Petroleum, Hindustan Petroleum and Indian Oil as their stock targets jump some 40%.
