Wood to support Chevron’s subsea compression project in Australia
Oilfield services provider Wood has secured a new contract with Chevron Australia to provide subsea integration and flow assurance front-end engineering design (FEED) services for the Jansz-Io compression project offshore Western Australia.
Effective immediately, the one-year contract will be delivered locally by Wood’s team based in Perth, harnessing local expertise and industry capability, Wood said on Wednesday.
The Jansz-Io compression project will maintain gas supply to the existing Gorgon LNG facility. Located on Barrow Island, Gorgon comprises a three-train, 15.6 million tonnes per annum LNG facility and a domestic gas plant with the capacity to supply 300 terajoules of gas per day to Western Australia.
Wood will lead as system integrator of the technology, providing independent flow assurance, subsea design, and construction engineering support during the FEED.
Bob MacDonald, CEO of Wood’s Specialist Technical Solutions business, comments: “We are delighted to support Chevron as a local partner in the first Australian project to use subsea compression technology.
“This new contract demonstrates Wood’s experience in Australia’s subsea sector and knowledge of Chevron’s systems and operations on the Jansz-Io and Gorgon infrastructure.”
In 2017, Wood signed a global master services agreement with Chevron that enables the company to deliver conceptual engineering, pre-FEED, FEED detailed design and procurement services in multiple locations across the operator’s global onshore and offshore asset portfolifo.
Chevron has also already awarded a contract to Aker Solutions to support the delivery of a subsea compression system for the Jansz-Io field. The first service order under the master contract was for front-end engineering and design of a subsea compression station that will boost the recovery of gas from the field.
