A. Novak

Russia will increase LNG production by 5 times by 2035
Moscow, Neftegaz.RU. By 2035, Russia intends to increase the production of liquefied natural gas (LNG) by about 5 times.
Theses of A. Novak : by 2035, Russia plans to increase LNG production to 120-140 million tons; currently, this figure is about 28 million tons; Russia intends to increase its share in the global LNG market to about 20%;we have all the potential for this, including the necessary resources and competitive power; Russia has only 74 trillion m 3 of natural gas reserves in the Arctic , there are also many unexplored deposits; Russia plans to supply up to 70% of the produced LNG to countries in the Asia-Pacific region (APR).
Russia is rapidly trying to take its place in the promising global LNG market while it is just being formed. However, at the moment the Russian Federation is much inferior to its competitors, having occupied only about 4% of the market by the end of 2017. At the same time, in 2018, production in the Russian Federation accounted for 18.5% of the total world natural gas production.
In 2017, LNG exports from Russia amounted to 16 billion m 3, which corresponds to 6.5% in total exports of natural gas from Russia. In 2018, gross LNG production increased by 1.7 times, reaching 26.9 billion m 3. With the advanced launch of the 2nd and 3rd production lines of the Yamal LNG plant, the total capacity of the plant reached 16.5 million tons / year of LNG, and the total capacity of LNG plants in the Russian Federation was 27 million tons / year. Earlier, in April 2019, A. Novak estimated Russia's capabilities for LNG production in the period up to 2035 in the amount of 100-120 million tons. Recall that in October 2018 , Russia returned to the idea of building an LNG plant based on the Shtokman field. The IEA, although not as rosy as A. Novak, also generally appreciates the prospects of the Russian Federation on the global LNG market by 2040. According to the agency’s forecast, Russia can increase LNG exports by 60 billion m 3 by this time.
