IHI to build two LNG tanks in India
Japanese engineer IHI Corporation booked an order for an EPC of two above-ground LNG tanks for LNG receiving terminal in India, jointly with a major construction company in India, Afcons Infrastructure.
The LNG-receiving terminal will be constructed at the HSEPL site at Chhara Port, Gujarat Province, IHI said in a statement on Thursday. HSEPL is a joint venture between Hindustan Petroleum Corporation and SP Ports.
The storage capacity is 200,000 cubic meters per unit, which is the largest capacity in India, and completion is planned for 2022.
IHI Plant Services Corporation, which is an IHI unit established in April this year as a plant EPC business company of the IHI Group, is responsible for the work.
IHI reminded that the construction of Dahej LNG receiving terminal in Gujarat was its first construction and for India, its first LNG terminal.
Subsequently, IHI has built a total of 10 LNG tanks, including six for the Dahej terminal, two for the Kochi LNG receiving terminal in Kerala and two for the Mundra LNG receiving terminal in Gujarat, for GSPC LNG.
The company noted in its statement that it has built 70 percent of the LNG tanks in India.
